Twisted Roots

New Earth Theatre's Twisted Roots Festival celebrates British East and Southeast Asian arts heritage in the modern theatre landscape.

As part of their 30th anniversary season, New Earth Theatre collaborated with seven venues across the country to launch their Artist Incubator, a nine-month programme providing a cohort of British East and Southeast Asian talent with support to develop their practice. It is an invitation for theatre makers to explore traditional artforms whilst moving away from archaic ideas of authenticity, embracing ESEA and British performance culture in the here-and-now.

Join us as we showcase the work-in-progress pieces developed from our Incubator, fusing western theatre styles with Filipino dance, Chinese paper cutting and Rakugo comedy. They will be joined by commissioned artists from Horizons Collective, a North-West based organisation championing BESEA artists in Greater Manchester and beyond.
