McLaren: £100 million of GVA to the local economy by 2028.

The prestige of McLaren choosing our city is humbling and speaks for itself, but importantly for Sheffield it has also created approximately 200 jobs and will provide an estimated £100 million of GVA (gross value added) benefit to the local economy by 2028.

The Fringe at Tramlines

Each year, as Hillsborough Park gets ready to host the main Tramlines Festival, the rest of the city also gears up to stage a whole host of music events for all tastes. Taking place in various Sheffield venues 26 - 28 July 2024.

Tecomet: growing leadership and management expertise

Tecomet, a medical device and aerospace manufacturer, concentrating on castings, forgings and machinery has benefited from support through the Invest Sheffield team, leading to a referral to the Sheffield City Region Skills Bank.

Incubate & accelerate

The Sheffield tech ecosystem has developed significantly over the last few years with more tech businesses relocating and scaling in the city - in fact, in 2022 Startups has ranked us the best city in the UK to start a business.

Mountain biking

Head straight out to the UK’s only inner-city mountain bike trail at Parkwood Springs, take in some big views and berms at Lady Cannings Plantation or venture north to Sheffield's Greno Woods for some technical trails through the trees. Beyond the city boundary, a whole network of trails and bridleways will take you into the heart of the stunning Peak District National Park.

Abbeydale Miniature Railway

Abbeydale Miniature Railway aim to have at least one steam loco operating as well as 'diesels'. Light refreshments, ice cream, souvenirs etc. are usually on sale.

Five Weirs Walk

The Five Weirs Canal Walk is a surfaced path and cycleway, stretching for 7.5 km along the River Don and passing the five historic weirs from which it takes its name.
