Contact Improvisation & Latihan

The day will flow starting with an opening circle, some connection practises and contact improvisation, where everyone will focus on building trust and developing connections with self and others through the environment.

There will then be some time for open movement play and dancing (Contact Improv JAM). Everyone will break to have lunch (please bring your own food)

After the break everyone will then have a discussion around Latihan and boundaries and prepare to go on a silent blindfolded journey moving slowly and with awareness.

Once you exit the mat and take your blindfold off you can not re-enter the mat space and have to witness the magic unfolding.

Everyone will close with time to reflect and share about the day and for anyone to share what needs to be shared in a confidential space.

What is Contact Improvisation & Latihan: Contact Improvisation - Exploring movement through physical contact and shared weight, between partners or groups.  Emphasising spontaneity, balance and fluidity, creating a space of mutual trust and support where participants can explore freely, while honouring their own limits. Latihan - A form of moving meditation.  Letting go of the sense of physical surroundings and trusting intuitively the energy of the space and those around us. Blindfolded, moving silently and slowly, to draw our attention inward, as we navigate the space through touch and connection. Meet the facilitators: Valentina - Valentina brings a profound understanding of the body, guiding individuals through healing and self-discovery in a deeply compassionate, heart-centered way. Her work blends movement, self-expression, and connection to joy through transformative practices such as Contact Improvisation, movement workshops, weekend and day retreats, and personalized 1:1 healing and wellness sessions. Through Effervescent Hearts, Valentina creates safe, nurturing spaces where individuals can explore movement, connection, playfulness, and inner transformation—fostering a deep sense of well-being, alignment, and authentic self-expression. Sally-Ann: Yoga enables me to promote my physical and emotional wellbeing and to help me find my 'Self' through movement, self awareness and connection. Yoga has helped me delve deeper into healing and connection and gifted me a love for intuitive and embodied Yoga and other movement practices.
