It's All a Show: Fairground Showmen*, Identity and Mental Health

An exhibition by Sheldon Chadwick PhD at Liverpool John Moores University and the National Fairground and Circus Archive at the University of Sheffield.

It’s All a Show: Fairground Showmen, Identity and Mental Health explores what it means to be a Showman in the twenty-first century and the relationship between identity and mental health in that community.

The exhibition showcases Sheldon’s ground-breaking research and collaborations with the NHS, third sector and academic organisations together with historic archive records and newly created interviews, photographs and poems.

It’s All a Show provides a platform for honest and open conversations about mental health, identity, neurodiversity and discrimination. Open: Mon - Fri 09:00 - 19:00 Sat - Sun 12:00 - 18:00

This exhibition has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the University of Sheffield Library, Close Brothers Finance and the Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain. *(Throughout this exhibition, the term Showmen is used to include men, women and children from the community.)
