A month-long celebration of The Outdoor City
Every March, as Sheffield enjoys the days getting longer, drier, and warmer, we celebrate what it is to be The Outdoor City, by hosting the Festival of the Outdoors.
You'll find everything from large scale international sporting events to small community gatherings; from guided walks to some of the worlds hardest bouldering problems; from outdoor markets to film festivals.

CWIF
16 - 17 March
The Climbing Works International Festival (CWIF)
Watch some of the world's best climbers tackle some of the world's best bouldering problems, as set by Olympic route setter, Percy Bishton.
Those lucky enough to nab one of the very limited tickets to watch this event in-person won't be disappointed, but if you missed out then join the special CWIF Watch Party with a big screen livestream of all the action from the Semis and Finals, in Sheffield Winter Garden on Sunday 17 March.
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF)
Back for its 18th year, ShAFF returns to the atmospheric surroundings of Sheffield Cathedral for another weekend of the best new adventure, travel and extreme sports films from around the world.
Take your pick of adrenaline-fuelled and thought-provoking films and documentaries, and be part of talks and panel discussions with some of the leading figures in the industry.

15 - 16 March
Pollen Market X FOTO
Hosted along Sheffield's award-winning green corridor, Grey to Green, in Castlegate, Pollen Market will be kicking off their 2024 dates with a bumper edition to celebrate the Festival of the Outdoors.
There'll be extra live music and activities in the market itself, along with Canoe Taster sessions hosted by DC Outdoors in nearby Victoria Quays, and a Skateboard Jam next door on Exchange Street, in collaboration with Skateboard GB and The House Skatepark.

Park Hill Uprise - Urban Hill Climb
Sheffield Urban CX return to iconic Park Hill on Saturday 23 March to offer an urban hill climb event with a difference, as cyclists take on a cobbled course in the shadow of Europe’s largest listed building.
The cobbled V below Park Hill creates the two Cobbled Climbs, making it a great place to watch or take part, in this fast and furious event that will test riders and thrill spectators.

Strange Sheffield Ghost Walks - Plague Pits to Paradise
Why not join Strange Britain on the streets of Sheffield for an evening city stroll of Ghost Stories, on Friday 29 March.
Sheffield Half Marathon 2024
Taking place on Sunday 7 April, Sheffield Half Marathon is one the best attended in the country and most scenic too! Each year, the event attracts thousands of runners of all abilities to the city’s streets, raising many thousands of pounds for great causes.

Outdoor art trail - Look Up!
Look Up is turning the rooftops of some of Sheffield's most iconic buildings into a FREE, augmented reality art gallery.
Simply download the app (available for IOS and Android) and head out to one of four locations in the city centre where you'll find a Look Up portal, Scan the QR code and then wait for the magic to happen.
