Commissioned alongside his year-long exhibition in Weston Park Museum, 'Soccer Kids' is Pete McKee's first foray into the world of augmented reality, and spans not one but two iconic rooftops, making Sheffield Children's Hospital part of this amazing collaboration too.
Pete's new exhibition 'The Boy with a Leg Named Brian' is a deep dive into his nostalgia-filled journey through his 1970s childhood, growing up in Sheffield. With football playing a key part in this, Pete's Look Up commission presented the perfect opportunity to celebrate the football heritage of the city with some new characters, a dash of retro music, and a nod to Soccer Kid, a hit computer game of the 90s which was published by Krisalis Software- a team of developers born out of Sheffield's prolific Gremlin Graphics.
It's also the perfect piece to mimic the characters with friends and family using your own ball - so get snapping in the app and share your photos and videos with us on social by tagging @VisitSheffield, @PeteMcKee and use #LookUpSheff to show the world your skills.
'Soccer Kids' is also the final installation as part of the government grant funding that has brought Look Up to life across the city. If you didn't know already, there are five more locations working with other Sheffield artists - to see them all simply download the FREE app and then head out on the trail to hunt them down.
